Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a fun event for students in Grades 3 to 6 that creates interest and excitement in reading. Each fall and winter, students enjoy quality literature representing a variety of literary styles and perspectives. This year's theme is exploring. A team is chosen in February to compete against 25 other school teams at the annual Battle of the Books competition on March 1, 2012. Through the fun and excitement of the competition, students improve reading skills, mature in their choices of reading materials, and acquire a broader knowledge base.



St. John the Baptist Church Youth Group

Students in Grades 3 through 8 are encouraged to participate in the school parish youth group every Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students meet in the school gym for fun and games from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and then go to St. John the Baptist Church from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for prayers followed by social time and pizza.

Winter Weather Reading Club

St. John's staff and students can enjoy some quiet reading time in the school library on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during last recess from January until the end of March.

Just Dance! Club

St. John's students are invited to come out and Just Dance! This is a new school club beginning in February 2012. Students have the opportunity to explore movement, and dance to a variety of music styles. No dance experience is necessary and staff will provide supervision.
